Based on Gamification, SEL and 21st century skills the proposal today is a Breakout Educational Experience for upper-intermediate students, as a follow-up class activity to extensive reading comprehension tasks. Ideally played in small groups of four participants (some info on «escape rooms» / «breakout educational» activities here). Please note there are no locked rooms in this activity but boxes with padlocks for students to unlock.

THE NARRATiVE: After six consecutive rejections, Agatha Christie’s career changed in 1920 when The Mysterious Affair at Styles turned her into the successful writer we all know. The Mysterious Affair at Styles was Christie’s first published novel where a young detective Poirot gets introduced. Today, Hercules Poirot has set up some challenges to check you have read the book and understood what the affair was. He is mysteriously trapped by what’s in the last box and can’t wait for you to help him unlock it!
